The Age of Wholeness

Before the Fracturing, when the five Threads bound the world in harmony.

Era-Based Era: -5000 – -3001 4 events
📯

The first Archons — Vaelith among them — wove the five Threads of magic into the world bedrock, unifying arcane practice under a single concord. The Threads: Void, Pyroclast, Crystal, Verdant, and Tempest.

📯

The five Archons established the Archonate, a council to govern the Threads and prevent any single school from dominating. The Archonate Seat was built at the world center — a tower of pure white stone that would later be renamed Keth-Solas.

-4500 – -3500

The Age of Synthesis

An era of unprecedented magical advancement. Cross-thread disciplines emerge: Pyroclast-Crystal forging, Void-Tempest navigation, Verdant-Void agriculture. The world population triples. Cities spread across every continent.

📯

The Verdant Thread begins fluctuating unpredictably — forests shift overnight, seasons invert. Scholars detect a harmonic dissonance between the Threads, as though the binding itself is weakening.

The Fracturing

The catastrophic unmaking of the world and its immediate aftermath.

Era-Based Era: -3000 – -2001 5 events

-3000

The Fracturing

Major

In a single hour, the five Threads snap simultaneously. The world does not explode — it unravels. Continents separate into floating Shards. The sky turns violet as Void energy floods the upper atmosphere. An estimated third of the world population perishes in the first day.

📯
-3000

The Void Emergence

Major

The Void — previously a philosophical abstraction — becomes a tangible force. It begins consuming Shard edges, expanding the Chasm between islands. Those who touch it directly either die screaming or are transformed into Hollows: beings with no memory, only purpose.

📯
-3000

Vaelith Scattered

Major

During the Fracturing, the Archon of the Lunar Thread — Vaelith — attempts to reinforce the binding. The backlash shatters her consciousness across seventeen Void Shards. Her body is never recovered. Seventeen Shards now pulse with faint dream-visions.

📯
-3000

Korrath Wounded

Major

A warrior named Korrath — then a captain in the Archonate guard — physically strikes the Void at the moment of its emergence, seeking to close the rift. The Void cuts him. His wound never heals. He becomes the first to carry Void energy in living flesh.

📯

Surviving Pyroclast mages on the volcanic Shards bind their islands together with chains of void-metal, creating the first stable island cluster. They declare sovereignty over the Ember Islands and begin the tradition of Convergence worship.

The Age of Fragments

The current era, as factions compete to control the Shards and the Void.

Era-Based Era: -2000 – 500 7 events
📯

A roving Obsidian Covenant expedition finds the Fracture Compass in a sealed vault beneath a destroyed Archonate outpost. The device reactivates upon contact with void energy, confirming what the Covenant has long suspected: the Void is not random. It is searching.

📯

Korrath — now ancient and known as Korrath the Unburned — extracts the Void Blade from a Shard in the Chasm of Echoes. In doing so he inadvertently kills twelve Hollows with a single swing, proving the blade can destroy Void-touched beings. Both the Covenant and Assembly seek to acquire it. He refuses both.

Sorin Waystone Bound

Major

Sorin Waystone of the Crystalline Assembly performs the first successful Shard-Binding on himself, fusing a Void Shard to his left arm. The procedure takes seven days, costs the lives of three assistants, and leaves him permanently attuned to Void resonance. He begins his search for the Primer of Keth-Solas.

📯

Representatives of all three factions meet at the edge of the Chasm of Echoes and sign a non-aggression pact: no faction will use Void Shards as weapons against another. The Covenant signs first, knowing their members can enter the Void untransformed. The Compact and Assembly suspect bad faith. The Accords hold for eighty years.

📯
-2200

The Primer Recovered

Major

Sorin Waystone locates the lost Primer of Keth-Solas — a text describing the original Threadweaving — buried beneath the Archive foundation stone. The first page describes the method for detecting Harmonic Dissonance. The Assembly immediately restricts access to rank seven and above.

📯
-2100

Vaelith First Vision

Major

A dream-haunted scholar in the Ember Compact receives a waking vision from Vaelith of the Broken Moon. The vision: the original binding words, spoken backward. The scholar writes them down before forgetting. The Compact immediately seeks to verify whether the words can undo the Fracturing — or make it permanent.

📯

The factions are on the brink. The Covenant believes the Void can be harnessed to rebuild the world. The Assembly believes it can be rewoven. The Compact believes it should be allowed to complete its work. And somewhere in seventeen Shards, Vaelith waits.
